HK33s - the end of a long and winding road? Unlikely.

Some of these rifles ended up, according to the UN OHCHR Commission of Inquiry anyway, in the hands of Rai Los in 2006 and some ended up in the hands of the Alfredo Reindao Group including a certain Marcelo Caetano - alleged by some to have shot President Horta on 11 February 2008.

I wonder what the political leadership thinks of these weapons now? Obviously they are not that concerned as the PNTL has been reissued with their long arms 2 months ago. Indeed the AMP government seems just as fond of paramilitary guns in the hands of the police as the FRETILIN government was.
